How does the hatching mechanic work?
Every DinoEgg starts incubating the moment it's minted or transferred to your wallet. After a 3-hour incubation period, the egg is ready to hatch. Connect your wallet, head to the Hatchery Lab on this page, and click "Crack Egg" — your wallet will sign a transaction that reveals the fully on-chain Dino artwork and traits.
What happens if I never hatch my egg?
Nothing breaks — your egg stays as an egg forever until someone calls hatch(). There is no deadline. You can buy/sell unhatched eggs on OpenSea, and the new owner can hatch whenever they want. Traits are deterministically derived at hatch time from the token's data, so an unhatched egg has not yet "rolled" its rarity.
How are traits and rarity determined?
Each Dino has 9 trait layers: Background, Body, Outfit, Eyes, Headgear, Mouth, Thought, Effect, and Accessory. Traits are generated on-chain from the token ID and block data at hatch time, then packed into storage. A rarity score is computed from the combination of traits, sorting Dinos into Common, Rare, Epic, or Legendary tiers.
How much gas does hatching cost?
A single hatch() call is a lightweight state update (sets a flag and emits an event). Bulk hatching multiple eggs at once via hatchMany() is significantly cheaper per egg than hatching them individually — the "Hatch All Ready" button appears in the Hatchery Lab when you have 2 or more ready eggs.
Is the art really fully on-chain?
Yes. The SVG artwork and JSON metadata are both rendered directly from the contract via tokenURI(), with no IPFS, no centralized servers, no external dependencies. As long as Ethereum exists, your Dino exists. The on-chain renderer composes the SVG from the packed trait data at view time.
Where can I buy DinoEggs now that mint is over?
The 8,888 supply is fully sold out from primary mint. You can buy DinoEggs (both unhatched and hatched) on the secondary market via OpenSea. Once you own one, it appears in the Hatchery Lab and you can hatch it from this site.
What wallets are supported?
Any Ethereum-compatible Web3 wallet that injects window.ethereum: MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, Frame, and most browser/mobile wallets. Mobile users should open this site from inside their wallet's built-in browser for the smoothest experience.
